The Power to Change Your Language Using Positive Vibrations of Thought

In my first article I asked the question of whether you were ready to change negative thoughts naturally and I left you with three practical ways to start that process. Those three ways are: (1) becoming aware of your thoughts, (2) asking yourself whether it’s a fruitful thought and beneficial to your success and (3) taking responsibility to consciously practice alternative thinking.

In this article we are continuing that discussion but delving a bit deeper into the power of the vibrations of our thoughts and the power we have within to literally change those vibrations. Now in order to get this you’re going to have to think outside the box with me for a moment because the average person does not have a clue of what “vibrations of thought” mean. I didn’t either until a couple of years ago when the phrase dropped into my spirit and I began my investigation. Remember this has been a journey for me, as I started working on this project about five years ago when I became curious about the effects our thoughts have on our emotions and memories. So bear with me as I proceed on this journey of stirring up your imagination concerning thought power and vibrations.

Recently I was watching a DVD teaching by Dan McCollam Called “God Vibrations – The Power of Sound.” Dan was using a very familiar Scripture, Genesis 1:2 to reinforce his teaching on vibrations. Dan simply demonstrated a pattern of vibrations that were introduced at the Creation as he taught on the Spirit hovering or (brooding in some biblical translations), over the surface of the deep. When he gave the original text definition of brooding (Strong’s #7363 – Rachaph) as shaking, moving, fluttering, or as Dan put it “in modern vernacular, vibrate,” I got so excited I could not contain myself. Why did I get excited? As a mental health professional and doing everything I know to help my clients in their quest for emotional healing I had already began exploring such scientific words such as, quantum physics, cellular systems, vibrations, frequency, and energy. I was trying to make heads or tails of the relationship that these words have on thought and emotion, along with trying to make sure those closest to me who I dared share some of this “hokey” stuff on the brain and the body’s cellular system didn’t think I had literally lost my mind.

So being the spiritual person that I am and not wanting to alienate anyone, I wanted to be able to demonstrate to both my spiritual audience along with my non-spiritual audience, the key to bridging the gap between the scientific and the spiritual. It seems significant that we have clarity about how our identity is established based on what the Creator of the universe was trying to demonstrate to us in the very beginning of it all. I happen to believe that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made,” by the Creator and did not evolve from apes as so many believe today, and that in fact there is a purpose and destiny for each of us while here in the earth realm.

If you happen to be reading this blog and even if you don’t share my same beliefs, you probably have some scientific beliefs and you probably believe and/or rely on a “Higher or Universal Power.” That’s okay, because humankind seems to have an interconnected-ness in the overall scheme of things and we all do not have to believe the same way. That’s a topic for an entire study all by itself. So let’s continue on with this fascinating study of the power to change negative or toxic vibrational thoughts. However, before continuing let me first give you a working definition of “vibrational” and its relationship to our thought patterns. If we define the meaning from a spiritual perspective, utilizing the Genesis 1:2 passage we will see that the Spirit which was “hovering, brooding, and/or vibrating” over the surface of the deep is described as (Ruach Strongs #7307 in the Hebrew translation), which means wind or breath. This same word Ruach through further study indicates that it imparts warlike executive and administration power and energy to men, and is also defined as the mind, seat of emotion, seat of mental acts, and moral character.

This Spirit has the same attributes and characteristics as the Spirit (Pneuma, Strongs #4151) which resides on the inside of each and every one of us. (See 1Th 4:8) “ Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.” See also Acts 4:31, “And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken, [Strongs #4535, salos, meaning a billow, wave, vibration], and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and they spoke the word of God with boldness.” This word Pneuma is a movement of air, a gentle blast, the power by which the human being feels, thinks, and decides. These definitions tell me that there is an energy vibrating, flowing, moving, billowing, waving, through each and every one of us through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Let’s now look at the definition from a scientific perspective. Within the human brain is something called the prefrontal cortex (PFC) which is located from the bridge of the nose all the way to the middle part of the top of our head. The psychological term for functions carried out by the prefrontal cortex area is executive function, and directly connects to all the other parts of the brain. One of the many functions of the PFC relates to the ability to differentiate among conflicting thoughts and between good and bad. So we have this wind blowing, vibrating energized spirit imparting executive and administrative power throughout our being including our brain which houses the PFC where our energized vibrating thoughts originate.

All we have to do is to accept this energized vibrating power and to determine that we’re going to allow the positive force of energy to flow through our bodyminds rather than the negative flow. In order to do this we must take rulership — authority over our toxic thought patterns and change them. We don’t do this by fighting them or consistently repeating phrases like, “I am not angry,” or “I will not be worried or fearful,…” but by learning the opposite of those thoughts and repeating them in our thoughts/mind (e.g., “I can do whatever I set my mind to do,” “I am a happy person,” “I am peaceful,” “I am bold and courageous, I am who my Creator says I am…” You should repeat those phrases until they become second nature as part of your daily language. In other words not only are you changing the way you think and put thoughts frequencies, waves, energies, vibrations, into the atmosphere, but you are literally changing your language and what you allow to come out of your mouth. For some people learning how to think and speak differently may be like learning a foreign language, but no matter how difficult the process seems I promise you it is attainable. Do not be afraid to say to someone when they are speaking negatively in your presence that you are not in agreement with what they are speaking.

These thought vibrations when put into the atmosphere automatically attract other thought vibrations from people with the same type of thoughts. Let me give you an example. Last year I was committed to going on a ministry trip to Sri Lanka. The commitment was made two years prior finally settling upon a firm date. The airfare was $1800. I knew that I was going into a third world country where the average income is approximately $200 per month and their ministry would not be able to purchase my airline ticket. I had used most of my travel budget for prior ministry trips and all that was left was $600. I had about four months to raise the additional funds. Fund raising in the past had not been my strength, but somehow I knew that I was supposed to be in Sri Lanka at that particular time, and somehow I knew the money would come. What I also knew for certain was that I was to do my part and God would do His.

I did not immediately get on the phone and start calling people asking for financial assistance, nor did I send out letters soliciting support. I just believed that it was an assignment from God which would inevitably be worked out. Approximately two months prior to my departure I received a phone call and after having a brief conversation the person said to me, “I would like to sow into your trip” and told me the amount she wanted to give. She also stated that she had wanted to be able to sow into ministry trips for quite a while and felt that God had blessed her to be able to do that.

Well, let me tell you, not only did the money she sowed take care of the remaining portion of my air fare, but I was able to sow into the purchase of the ticket for the other person who had committed to travel with me. That is my idea of vibrational thoughts sending energy waves into the atmosphere where someone else catches hold of that wave-thought. This is what is commonly called “The Law of Attraction.” I am sure that many of you have had similar experiences and often we are just not paying enough attention to understand what is happening. I encourage each of you to begin to practice hearing in your spirit what you are thinking and if the thoughts are negative, fearful, discouraging thoughts, activate new positive energized thoughts immediately. You will see your entire world begin to change before your eyes. Until next time, dare to change your thoughts and your environment.
